Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan layed preconditions for coming to Turkey to watch the soccer game between Turkish and Armenian national teams. He stated during the joint press conference with Serbian President Tadic in Yerevan, that he will come to Turkey only if borders are opened or contries are at the threshold of removal of blockade against Armenia…

President Abdullah Gul had visited Yerevan following invitation of Armenian President and Presidents of Turkey and Armenia had watched the game between Turkish, Armenian national teams together. Gul had invited Sarksyan for the return game in Turkey and he received the answer “I will be there.”

Nowadays, his serene highness states that he will honour us with his presence only if we open borders.

We, waiting for his excellency since long time, are plumbing the depths of sorrow since we learnt that you will not honour us with your coming. We are desperate… It means we will sing the song, “Vuslat yine mi kaldı güzel başka bahara” (Has the meeting of lovers delayed for another season again) untill you honour us.

All joking aside, what happened to the ones who were calling for dialogue? What happened to the ones who signed “I apologize to my Armenian brothers” forms. They were telling that visit of Abdullah Gul to Yerevan will start a clean slate. They were telling that “Armenian apology” will change everything. The efforts of some ignorant but well-intentioned Turkish intellectuals did not find the expected response from Armenia.

I am towards establishment of friendly relations and solution of the problems between countries too, but not with the complex of guiltiness and one-sided compensations.

Actually, Serzh Sarksyan is having hard times. There is a strong and immoral opposition against him that calls for termination of the process of normalization of relations with Turkey.

They held World Armenian Conference in Nagorno-Karabakh and all of 135 delegates who attended to conference called Sarksyan to terminate Turkey talks. Following that Sarskyan stated that he has some preconditions before he accepts visiting Turkey.

Now i wonder what is the new project of our certain “intellectuals.”
