PKK AND TERMINATION OF ASALA

Started with the recognition of so called Armenian genocide, demands of Armenian terrorist organization ASALA extended along land claims against Turkey. Sometimes Armenian officials and sometimes unofficial Armenian authorities expressed these demands, towards compensation and land. Terrorist activities of ASALA was terminated by the raid at Orly Airport in 1984, after lose of several Turkish diplomats’ lives. Organizing a demonstration in a civil airport and taking women and children hostage was not very reasonable for an organization who had the support and sympathy of Western world. Obviously ASALA’s time was up and it was needed to suicide. Within a short while, Turkish security forces neutralized the head quarters of the terrorist organization in Lebanon.

The interesting point in this, is the synchronization of termination of Armenian terrorist organization ASALA and initiation of the PKK. ASALA lost the tender against PKK because it would not be able to find staff in Anatolia. Another probability is that, maybe the West used ASALA and PKK diaschronically. Maybe PKK is assigned for the internal duties while ASALA is assigned for the duties in abroad. But that probability is lower.

Does not the timing for termination of ASALA and initiation of PKK reflect who has the remote control of PKK? Therefore, can we say that the “seperatism” is not the only purpose of the terrorist organization?
