Official Ankara will reply Sarksyan’s statements about canceling his Turkey visit if the borders are not opened before the soccer game between Turkish and Armenian teams with silence.
Started with the Yerevan visit of President Abdullah Gul, football diplomacy is passing through lifeless days. The warm breezes between two country ended with the statements of Sarksyan in which he proposed opening of state border between two countries for survival of process of normalization of relations. Evaluating the statements of Sarksyan, Ankara decided to synchronize the Kurdish and Armenian initiative. During the days in which Ankara struggles for the resolution of Kurdish problem, government does not want to deal with another tough discussion which which will include the claims of so called Armenian genocide. Therefore, official Ankara suspended the Armenian initiative till the day of soccer game, and preferred to remain silent against statements of Armenian President.
Diplomatic sources state that there will not be any initiative till the day of soccer game between Turkish and Armenian national teams. Turkey wants to establish contact with Armenia during the meeting of United Nations General Assembly.
