For the first time after his resignation former Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian criticized the authorities. In his interview to the RFE/RL Oskanian called Armenia's democracy forged, APA reports quoting Armenia Today.

Vartan Oskanian, who is now heading Civilitas Foundation, says the government bodies are not formed through free and fair elections in Armenia.

“Without free and fair elections we will fail to create atmosphere of proper contradiction and competition in our political system. Free and fair election is the important condition of democracy. Maybe not enough, but the important condition. I do not say anything new. There is international practice, practice of democratic states. The practice shows that your democracy is incomplete, forged and unserious without normal elections,” he said.

Oskanian notes that Armenia is the most politicized country of the world.

“Politics is everywhere” in tax service, courts, media. Everything has been politicized. We have problems in all spheres, the root of even social problems is politics. That's why the solution of these problems should be searched in politics. It will only be found if we determine proper political mechanisms,” he said.
