Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Puti's visit to Turkey was attentively followed by world media. Turkish experts think that the visit of Russian PM may affect Azerbaijan too.

Firstly, Russian Prime Minister met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Major topics that were discussed by the leaders were construction of a Nuclear Power Plant to Turkey and projects about petroleum and natural gas. Turkish and Russian leaders signed 20 agreements.

Russia wants to export a part of its petroleum to world over Ceyhan harbour. Following the agreement that lets exportation of Russian petrol by Samsun-Ceyhan petroleum pipeline, Moscow already started to get prepared for realization.

The visit shows that the topic of energy is very important for the economical cooperation between countries. According to experts, Russia wants to convince Turkey to give up Nabucco with increasing the cooperation in the field of energy. Actually, signing a goodwill protocol for Blue Stream-2 project confirms that.

Another major development happened by the visit of Putin to Turkey, is signing of the protocol about South Stream project. The details of the agreement is not announced. Russia also suggested Turkey to participate construction of the pipeline. Before that, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu had stated in Moscow that Turkey is ready to participate constraction of South Stream project.

Although there is a serious rapprochement between Turkey and Russia over energy issues, there are big differences in stances of regional policies. But lately, Ankara and Russia struggles to coincide their regional policies. For example last year Turkey was one of the countries that condemned Russia because of the occupation of Georgia. Although, following that Turkey suggested establishment of Caucasus Stability and Cooperation Platform for establishment of peace in Caucasus.

Head of TURKSAM International Research Center, Sinan Ogan said that there are reasons for Russian PM Putin to visit Turkey. He said that Putin is searching a way out from the atmosphere that is formed by global economical recession. The issue of energy is the most important reason, even more than the economics said he.

Other than that Ogan said that Azerbaijan also will benefit of the visit of Russian Prime Minister. “The issue of resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is one of the issues which Turkish and Russian PMs has discussed,” said he. Expert considers that Russia will convince Armenia as Turkey will convince Azerbaijan for a solution.
