Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS) Director Richard Giragosian claimed that Turkish PM Erdogan and Russian PM Putin has signed a secret agreement.

According to Armenian expert Turkish government gave permission to Russia to use its airspace for carrying arms to its military base in Armenia. Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS) Director Richard Giragosian stated that the opening of state border between Turkey and Armenia is towards the interests of Russia before any other country. He claimed that Turkey has let Russia to use its air corridor to carry arms to the Russian military base in Armenia.

Speaking in a seminar devoted to “Armenian-Turkish relations: present and past,” Armenian expert said that Russia is more interested in border opening, as that may enable it to control Armenia’s energy sphere. Acording to Giragosian, the issue of border opening is more related to Turkish-Russian relations than Turkish-Armenian relations. “Russia has certain expectations from Turkey following the war between Russia and Georgia,” said he.

Giragosian stated that Ankara and Moscow had signed a secret agreement, allowing Russia to use Turkey’s air space to arm its military base in Gyumri.
