"ARMENIAN POLITICIANS DO NOT KNOW TURKEY"

A lecturer at Yerevan State University Turcology Department Ruben Melkonyan stated that Armenian politicians do not have enough information about Turkey. Melkonyan said that the knowledge of Armenian politicians about Turkey is superficial and that does not let the relations between Turkey and Armenia to be normalized.

Speaking in the seminar devoted to “Armenian-Turkish relations” in Yerevan, Turcologist Melkonyan said that several Turkish journalist that visited Armenia witnessed to the decrease of harsh attitude among Armenian community against Turkey. He said, “Although Turkish press approaches Armenians with humane sentiment. Armenian expert said, “Turkey’s attitude towards normalization of relations with Armenia is sincere. But the statements of Armenian politicians about Turkey damages the relations between two countries as they do not have relevant information about Turkey. We need to produce new policies for development of relations. We need to learn more about Turkey.”
