Speaking in a seminar devoted to “Nowadays’ Turkey,” Former Director of Turkish Historical Society Yusuf Halacoglu stated that terrorist organization PKK has nothing to do with Kurdish people.

Former head of Turkish historical society Professor Doctor Yusuf Halacoglu said that the events in history should be analysed carefully.

Touching the issue of usage of the toponym “Norshin” by President Abdullah Gul during his visit to Guroymak, Bitlis, Halacoglu said, “Norshin is a Persian word. But the important point is that who live in Norshin. If we should consider the period of Ottomans, the Shafaki tribe had been living there. Speaking over the ’democratic initiative’ package of the government, Halacoglu said, “We first need to know who are Kurdish people and who is PKK. The raids of PKK been in Armenian and Kurdish villages. We need to know what was the reason for that. PKK has nothing to do with Kurdish people.”
