United States plans to assign U.S. ambassador to Kosovo, Tina Kaidanow instead of Matthew Bryza. But with only one difference, Kaidanow will not be the U.S. co-chair of OSCE Minks Group as Bryza but will be the Deputy Assistant Secretary of U.S. Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

U.S. co-chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minks Group Matthew Bryza, that mediates between Azerbaijan and Armenia towards resolution of the Karabakh conflict, stated that Kaidanow will be assigned to the chair.

Kaidanow’s assignment to the chair concerned Azerbaijani public opinion since Kaidanow was assigned as U.S. ambassador to Sarajevo following the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to Prishtine following the independence of Kosovo. Baku wants Karabakh conflict to be solved inrespect to the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and does not want Nagorno-Karabakh to be independent as in the examples of Bosnia or Kosovo.

On the other hand, Washington administration states that Matthew Bryza will be assigned as U.S. ambassador to Baku.
