Website of Armenian diaspora in Russia, ’Erkramas’ claimed that Turkish megastar Tarkan is an ethnic Armenian from Hemsin.
Armenian website alsowrote that Tarkan may represent Turkey in 2010 Eurovision song contest. Claiming that Tarkan is an ethnic Armenian that lives in Turkey, website wrote, “According to the information that is provided to us, Tarkan is from Hemsin. Which means that Tarkan is a member of Armenian community which chose Islam.”
On the other hand, manager and producer of Turkish megastar stated that the reports claiming that Tarkan will represent Turkey in 2010 Eurovision is not true. Speaking to APA, manager of megastar, Ugur Atas stated that there was no offer made by TRT to Tarkan. “Tarkan received proposals in the previous years, but he rejected them. And he will reject if he receives such proposal this year too. Tarkan does not think of participating this song contest,” said he.
