Armenian political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan commented on statements of Armenian President about possibilities of his visit to Turkey. Speaking to Armenian press, Armenian expert stated that Armenian President is very likely to go to Turkey to watch the football game between Turkish and Armenian national teams in Bursa.

According to the report of PanArmenian website, Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan said, “The process of rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia is not frozen. It is still progressing. Sudden interruption in the talks is temporary. Turkey wants to be an energy hub between Russia and Europe, therefore it wants zero problems with neighbouring countries. And such thing is not easy for a country which used to be an empire.”

Stating that the relations between Turkey and Armenia seriously developed on the recent years, Armenian expert said that Turkey and Armenia are not any more approaching bilateral relations through historical perspective. Iskandaryan said, “Doors are still open for normalization of relations between two countries. We may tell that there are serious developments in the relations. Freezing the process of normalization is not towards the interest of Ankara. Sarksyan’s message about necessity of opening of borders is not only for Ankara. Sarksyan also wanted to give a message to United States, Europe and Azerbaijan. The probability for Sarksyan to visit Turkey is still high.”

Return game between Turkish and Armenian national teams within World Cup 2010 is on October 14th in Bursa.
