Armenia state that it may recognize independence of Nagorno-Karabakh in case the negotiations with Azerbaijan do not lead to any result.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Shavarsh Kocharian told to a radio that Armenia is towards resolution of problems via negotiations.

Stating that Armenia might recongize the independence of Nagorno Karabakh if no result could be gained through negotiations, Kocharian stated that Azerbaijan should leave to consider “war” as an option. “Ceasefire that is reached by mediation of Russia is still valid and it is for the good of all people” said he.

Replying to the statements of Armenian official, Spokesman for Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elhan Poluhov stated that the statements of Armenia is contradicting with the reality and the decisions of United Nations.

Stating that Azerbaijan is not towards resolution of conflict by force, Poluhov said that Armenian citizens that live in Nagorno Karabakh will live in peace under Azerbaijani administration.
