
Alliance between Azerbaijan and Georgia becomes more concrete. NATO forms basis for good relations between two neighbours. The relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia continues to develop. Good relations between two neighbour could be defined as a concrete alliance. Both Azerbaijani and Georgian militaries are educated and supported by NATO and they form an alliance against Russia’s ally Armenia.
Last week Armenian Prime Minister, Democratic Party Leader Aram Sargsyan claimed that Azerbaijan was planning to attack Armenia following the August war between Russia and Georgia. He claimed that Russia’s success prevented Azerbaijan for applying that plan.
On the other hand, Armenian press reported last week that Georgian troops passed Armenian borders. Armenian Dashnak Party Leader Kiro Manoyan stated that the situation is unacceptable. Manoyan stated that Georgian troops violated Armenian borders even they do not have right to.
Both Georgia and Azerbaijan has very good relations with Turkey and NATO. Making a press conference on Thursday, spokesman to Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov stated that Azerbaijan appreciates NATO’s efforts towards establishment of peace. Calling NATO for development of relations, Polukhov stated that Azerbaijan will build up Azerbaijani forces in Afghanistan.
Other development is change in the seat of Georgian Ministry of Defence. Director General of Prisons Bako Akhalaya is assigned as Minister of Defence. Akhalaya stated that their purposes are; establishment of peace, modernization of the Georgian army and NATO membership. Georgian opposition is harshly criticizing assignment of Akhalaya to Ministry of Defence. Georgian opposition claims that assignment of Akhalaya is the worst enforcement of Saakashvili administration ever. Akhalaya had quelled the continuance of the riot in prisons gorily in 2006.
Turkey trains both Georgian and Azerbaijani armies.
