Turkey marked Victory Day on August 30.

A solemn ceremony was held in Baku in front of the monument erected in the Martyr's Lane in honor of the Turkish soldiers who died in battles for Azerbaijan's independence.

Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic together with ceremony participants laid flowers at the monument. Later they visited graves of Azerbaijani war victims who died in a battle for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

Ambassador Kilic, in response to journalists’ questions, touched on issues of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey stating that Azerbaijan has the strongest army in the South Caucasus.

“The military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey is developing in a perfect way. Azerbaijan has the strongest army in the South Caucasus. We welcome this and are proud of it. Our countries cooperate broadly in bringing the Azerbaijani army in line with NATO standards,” he said.
