The current situation in the Caucasus is not profitable for Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, said in an interview with NTV channel.

“Delay in truce in the region (the Caucasus) does not mean that there will be no peace. On the contrary, it demonstrates the importance of accelerating the truce,” Davutoglu said.

Turkey and Armenia reached the agreement to launch internal political consultations regarding with the conclusion of ’The protocol on establishment of diplomatic relations’ “and ’The protocol on development of bilateral relations’ at the negotiations under the mediation of Switzerland, RIA Novosti said with reference to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Political consultations will be completed within six weeks. Afterwards, two protocols will be signed. Then they will submitted for approval by the parliaments of two countries, “the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

Both protocols create the basis to normalize bilateral relations, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

There are no diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia. The border between two countries has been closed since 1993.

“Normalization of bilateral relations will contribute to ensuring peace and stability in the region. The Turkish and the Armenian Republics are determined to make joint efforts with Switzerland’s support,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

Turkey, which is a model of peace in the region, both in the Caucasus and the Middle East, can not live with the problems with its neighbors’ borders, Davutoglu said.

“The participation of Ankara in achieving the truce in the Caucasus is a personal initiative of Turkey, and not the result of external pressure,” Davutoglu said.

He said that the opinion that Armenia has gained from the occupation of Azerbaijani lands is mistaken.

“Many people think that Armenia has gained from the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, but it is not true. Armenia becomes poor each day. The Armenian people leave Armenia, Davutoglu said. Armenia, occupying Azerbaijani lands, will continue to become poor.”

Therefore, the situation in the Caucasus is not beneficial for Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Minister said.
