Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy welcomed the steps to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations.
Solana stated he is satisfied Ankara and Yerevan expressed readiness to start internal political consultations on the development of diplomatic and bilateral relations between the countries. Solana welcomed brave and farsighted approaches of both sides which will contribute to peace, security, stability in this important part of Europe. He expressed hope that the Protocols would be implemented and approved in a short period. Solana also welcomed Switzerland's mediatory efforts.
