Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated that the state borders between Turkey and Armenia may be opened till the end of the year in accordance with the protocol agreement that aims to establish diplomatic relations between two countries.

Talking to NTV television, Davutoglu said that the borders may be reopened on January 1 if everything could be proceeded as they are planned and if Turkey and Armenia can make steps mutually.

Turkey closed its borders to Armenia in 1993 following the occupation of Azerbaijan by Armenian forces.

Davutoglu stressed that Turkey will not make any steps that would damage interests of Azerbaijan.

Spokesman to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Elkhan Polukhov stated that Azerbaijan is sure that Turkey will not open borders to Armenia before resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
