The change in the attitude of Armenians against Georgia is due to normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia.

Initializing the process for establishment diplomatic relations with Ankara, Yerevan administration changed its attitude against Georgia as it started to see Turkey as an alternative destination that can connect Armenia to world.

Ntvmsnbc.com reported that Yerevan changed its attitude against Georgia about the Samtse-Javakheti region where ethnic Armenians live. Ignoring the demands of Javakheti Armenians towards uniting with Armenia for the sake of good relations with Georgia, Yerevan administration wanted Tbilisi to recognize Armenian language as a regional language and Armenian church to be registered by Georgian State.

Suprising Georgian officials, Sarksyan said, “I believe that recognition of Armenian language as a regional language, registration of diocese of Armenian church and preservation of Armenian historical monuments will serve Armenian-Georgian friendship.”

Speaking to Russian Nezavisimaya newspaper, a Georgian government official stressed that the statement of Armenian President came just after the protocol agreement between Turkey and Armenia and said, “Actually Armenian President knows how such statements of a politicians may result. Seperatist Armenians may start rebellion activities. It means that Yerevan was not sincere on its policy about territorial integrity of Georgia.”

On the other hand, Tbilisi based Georgian newspaper “Ahali Taoba” wrote that the strain in the relations between Armenia and Georgia is result of Russian policies. Georgian newspaper wrote, “Moscow plans to divide Georgia in little parts, starting from Javakheti region.”

Tbilisi decided to send Foreign Minister Gligol Vashadze to Armenia to solve the disputes between two countries. It is obvious that tough discussions are awaiting the Georgian Minister in Yerevan today.

Vashadze will discuss Samtse-Javakheti region problems with Armenian politicians and will also request Armenia to apply blockade to Abkhazia.
