Harshest reaction to the protocol came from Dashnak Party’s diaspora wing. Head of Western Europe wing of Dashnak Party, Murat Papazyan reacted to the agreement between Turkey and Armenia towards establishing a joint historians committee to research 1915 events. Stating that so called Armenian genocide is brought into question with such policy move, Papazyan said, “This is a heavy blow for Armenian cause.”

Papazyan stated that the process of researches will take about 20 years and the campaign towards providing international recognition of so called Armenian genocide will be frozen through this time interval. Stating that Armenian diaspora struggles for international recognition of so called Armenian genocide on its own, Papazyan called Armenian government to meet with diaspora organizations.

“Armenian cause is in danger. Karabakh is in danger. Armenian officials are making the worst mistake since Armenia gained its independence.” said he.
