Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had also stated that protocols will be discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and that they will not make any steps that would violate Baku’s interests.

On the other hand, leader of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli criticized Armenian opening harshly. Bahceli claimed that the process between Turkey and Armenia is conflicting with Turkey’s interests and that Turkey was yielding Armenian demands. Stating that MHP is against the protocols, Bahceli said, “Process of internal consultation is fantasy.” Issuing a written statement, Nationalist Movement Party stated that MHP will stand against the protocol agreement as it will be brought to Turkish Parliament. Touching the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, Bahceli said, “Opening of borders without return of occupied Azerbaijani lands cannot be considered.”
