Witnesses of Armenian atrocity in Anatolia, a brother and sister in Igdir stated that Armenians committed huge slaughters during the events took place in 1919.

Ceyran Taş, 102, and his brother Salman Berrak, 98, stated that Armenians slaughtered people in the Bayatdağaşanlı and Koçkıran villages in the region.

Stating that her family was living in Bayatdağaşanlı village, Ceyran Taş told, “We were living in Bayatdağaşanlı village. My father had just passed away. I was about 10 or 11. When Armenians made a raid to the village everyone started to flee. And i took my brother Salman with me and run. Everyone was struggling for its own life. We arrived to Koçkıran village as we followed other people who were running away. We stayed there for a while. Then following the atack of Armenians to that village everyone fleed to Iran. Many women jumped into the Aras river for not being captive to Armenians. We stayed in Iran for a while and then we returned back to Igdir. We returned but we could not find our mother. That day was like the doomsday. We can never forget the cruelty we witnessed.”

Stating that his life was saved by his elder sister, Salman Berrak said,

“Armenians were slaughtering whoever they see. We suffered a lot, we became orphans. Armenians slaughtered everyone. We cannot make friends with those people. I am not towards opening of borders with Armenia. They still want these lands. These lands would belong to them if there was not Ataturk. Did not Armenians fought against us in Azerbaijan, in Karabakh too?.”

Lecturer at Igdir University, Aslanturk Akyıldız stated that Armenians committed slaughters in and around Igdir between 1918 and 1920. “Armenians especially committed huge slaughters in Van and Igdir. They left Igdir in the December of 1920 with the arrival of Turkish military to the region.”
