Armenian Dashnak Party will go on hunger strike in Yerevan to oppose signing of protocols between Turkey and Armenia.

Armenian Dashnaktsutyun Party announced that they will go on sit-down and hunger strikes in Yerevan to protest protocol agreements between Turkey and Armenia towards establishment of diplomatic relations. Party officials stated that the strike will be held to protest Turkish-Armenian protocols, in the Republic Square at the center of Yerevan on September 15.

Talking to the press before the strike, Dashnak Party said, “Interests of Armenians are in danger. At the moment, government tries to convince the community that two documents that allegedly do not include preconditions are initialized. On the other hand truth is painful. If the protocols are ratified Armenia will recognize Turkey’s borders. Therefore, threaty of Kars will be recognized. On the top of it, we will bring „genocide“ issue into question through establishment of an intergovernmental commission. Such government may finally sign a document which containts concessions over Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Dashnak officials said, “We are not an anti-Turkey party. But these protocols are not acceptable,” and one more time they called Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian to resign. Dashnak Party had left the coalition government to protest the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia.
