Member of the Turkish parliament from the Republican People's Party Birgen Keles confirmed that her party will not support opening of the Turkey-Armenia border.

"I confirm that the fact that today [on Sept. 15] Republican People's Party Leader Deniz Baykal met with Ahmet Davutoglu. But I personally did not took part in it and I am not aware of details of the negotiations," Birgen Keles said.

"I do not favor Turkey-Armenia protocols initialed earlier. We will not favor Armenia-Turkey protocols until Armenia frees occupied lands of Azerbaijan."

As to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's speech at Azerbaijani parliament on May 13, Keles noted that "earlier minister stated on numerous occasions that Turkey will not reopen border with Armenia until it frees Azerbaijan's occupied lands. Turkey closed border with Armenia exactly because of occupation of Azerbaijani lands," she said.

"I think no one from our party will vote for ratification of the Turkey-Armenia protocol," she said.
