“Vladimir Zhirinovsky's statement is his personal position, not the position of Russia,” Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin said, APA reports.
Taking a stance on Vladimir Zhirinovsky's interview to RIA Novosti that Karabakh is Armenians' native land, the ambassador said it is not the position of official Russia.
Russian ambassador also commented on the reports that Kars treaty will become ineffective after Turkey and Armenia sign protocols on establishment of diplomatic relations.
“Kars treaty is an element of the international law and is effective. Russia is not going to annul it,”

I don' think that Vladimir Zhirinovsky's ideas coincide with official ideas and policy of the Russian government. Zhirinovsky is always trying to be on agenda with such statements. I think that his recent statement is yet another gamble,” vice speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Bahar Muradova told APA commenting on the Russian Duma vice speaker Zhirinovsky's statements about Karabakh. „Zhirinovsky's adventurism didn't free him from responsibility because he is an official person represented in the parliament's leadership and leads the party faction in the parliament. He should be more responsible. It seems Zhirinovsky comes under influence of other things when he makes these statements,” said Muradova.
