IS AZERBAIJAN'S NEW VISA ENFORCEMENT A REACTION TO ARMENIA OPENING?

Baku administration reviewed the visa enforcement against citizens of Turkey again and decided to decrease the time that Turkish citizens can stay in Azerbaijan. From now on Turkish citizens will be able to stay in Azerbaijan only for 3 months.

Azerbaijan decreased the time that Turkish citizens with visa can stay in Azerbaijan from one year to three months. Azerbaijani officials refuted the reports alleging that Azerbaijan’s new enforcement against Turkish citizens is a reaction to Turkey’s Armenia policy.

Baku administration reviewed the visa enforcement against citizens of Turkey again and decided for shortening the time of visa. From now on, Turkish citizens will have only 3 months of right of habitation in Azerbaijan. Although that was 1 being enforced as 1 year before the last decision of Azerbaijani authorities. Some of Azerbaijani newspapers wrote that the decision is a reaction against Turkey’s process of normalization of relations with Armenia. On the other hand, Azerbaijani experts stated that Azerbaijani citizens also can have the right of habitation for 3 months and that the decision has no political dimension.
