Director of the Organization for Struggling Against Baseless Armenian Claims (ASIMDER) Goksel Gulbey applied to European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan to be tried in a court because of the massacre of Khojaly.

Gulbey and members of the board of ASIMDER, held a press conference after Gulbey posted his complaint to ECHR from the post office of Igdir.

Director of ASIMDER stated that Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan lays down opening of the state borders between Turkey and Armenia as a condition for coming to Turkey to watch the soccer game between Turkish and Armenian national teams in Bursa on October 14.

Stating that Sarksyan should give an account for the massacres in the Khojaly village of Azerbaijan, Gulbey said,

“Sarksyan was commanding the troops which committed a genocide against hundreds of people in Khojaly in 1992. He commanded those soldiers for a massacre, and he also participated. The blood of people who were murdered in Khojaly is still warm. 1,2 million Azerbaijani had to leave their homeland. Because of these reasons, we decided to apply ECHR for demanding Sarksyan’s trial. We want him to be tried and we say, “Murderer Sarksyan, do not come to our land. Do not use Igdir Alican border check point.”

KHOJALY MASSACRE

Armenian troops committed genocide in Khojali city with population of 7,000 on Feb. 26, 1992. There were about 3,000 people in the city during the occupation. Majority of the population had to leave the city due to the four-month siege.

Within hours, over 600 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens were killed. Among them were 106 women and 83 children. About 1,000 people were disabled by shots; 8 families were fully destroyed. A total of 25 children lost both of their parents and 130 children lost one of them. About 1,275 people were taken prisoner. Around 150 people went missing.
