Armenia discusses the protocols that are initialized between Turkey and Armenia by the mediation of Switzerland, towards normalization of relations between two countries.

Representatives of ’Heritage’ Party and the political party of former President Levon Ter Petrosyan Armenian National Congress boycotted the sessions. The session that is held close to the media, held under the presidency of Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan. Making an attentive speech and picking the words as he knows opposition is highly sensitive on the issue of process of normalization, Sarksyan said, “Do you think i am not in doubt? You are wrong. I am also nervous about the risks and i am afraid. But i want you to know that we have not any other option.”

Defining the point Turkey and Armenia reached on negotiations as “a no way back process,” Armenian President said, “There are two protocols in our hands and an active process. Let’s discuss together about what we gain from these. Personally, i think that we are not accepting any precondition. Two protocols only creates opportunity for Turkey and Armenia to discuss all the problems. And by time, economical, political and historical problems will come to agenda respectively. And if one should ask „where are we going to,“ personally, i am going for solving problems. Tell me if we closed any doors to the resolution of any problem. We do not have any closed door. Lately i heard many criticals about the protocols that we initiated with Turkey. But no-one, even the strongest opposition does not say „No, we do not want reconciliation with Turkey.“ Everybody wants the solution. And, in my opinion, that shows the way we want to go.”

Stating that success of this process is important, Armenian president said, “Disputes and disagreements between two countries would become even deeper and stronger if this process does not give positive results.”
