Yerevan administration reacted Prime Minister Erdogan’s statements on not opening the state border between Turkey and Armenia unless Armenia ends the occupation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated that establishing connection between opening of the borders and resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem may create problems for both processes.

Reacting to the statements of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan about not opening Armenia border before Armenia solves the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said, “Turkish administration is aware that we are against holding the process of solution to Nagorno-Karabakh problem within the frames of normalization of the relaitons between Turkey and Armenia. Establishing connection between these two issues may create problems for both processes. We initiated the dialogue process without preconditions and we came to the stage of signing protocols with mutual understanding.”

Armenian minister stated that international mediators for Nagorno-Karabakh problem also evaluates the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia out of the process of resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Other than that, Nalbandian also said that Turkish administrators should at least respect to the heirs of survivors of so called Armenian genocide if they are not recognizing so called Armenian genocide.

This is the second harsh statement that is made by Armenian Foreign Minister during the process of normalization of relations with Turkey. Nalbandian is accused of betraying to the country as he is considered as the leading actor of the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia.
