Board chairman of Limak, Nihat Ozdemir commented on Kurdish and Armenian opening of the government and brought a different dimension to the issue. Calling for attention to Turkey's role of being an energy corridor between Europe and energy resources, Ozdemir stated that Turkey needs three “openings” for establishing security in the region.
TURKEY IS THE MOST RELIABLE COUNTRY
Ozdemir said, “Turkey has another virtue, it is one of the countries in the world that is governed with democracy. We are much more better than other countries in the region about this issue. Therefore, the role that Turkey will take about the issue of energy is very important.
Government of Republic of Turkey makes another step about the topic of energy each day. That strengthens the position of Turkey more and more. Just remember the position of Turkey about Nabucco Project, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars pipeline Project, that Ceyhan is becoming the energy hub of Europe and it is the only direction for Russia to transfer its petroleum to Europe. You will see how important the role Turkey has as an energy corridor.“
TURKEY NEEDS THREE OPENINGS
Ozdemir said, “Both United States and Europe wants Turkey to solve these three issues. First of them is the relations between Turkey and Armenia. That problem should be solved. Armenia needs us, and we need Armenia. We should establish relations with Armenia. The second is the Cyprus issue. We should resolve this issue on the negotiation table. And the third is Kurdish opening. Turkey needs to open these three files. Turkey needs to solve these issues for a better democracy. If Turkey can succeed on solving these three problems, it would become one of the exemplary countries in the world.”
Ozdemir stated that countries start wars because of problems in the issue of energy, and why would not they be able to make peace because of energy? “Turkey will become more secure if we can solve these three issues,” said he.
