Russian political scientist Vladimir Yevseyev commented on the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia. Yevsevey said, “Normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations is very important for Russia. Russia is towards good relations between two countries. Such development will remove the tension in the region. On the other hand, Russia has military existence in Armenia.

Russia cannot make enough military equipment to the military base in Yerevan. Because Georgian border is closed and border with Iran is not helping. Opening of Turkish border will bring several opportunities for Armenia. Besides opening of borders will contribute development of Armenia.“

Stressing that normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will moderate the tension in Karabakh, Yevseyev said, “Because Azerbaijan is Turkey’s friend. When borders are open, Turkey will consider Azerbaijan’s interests. Of cource these all will not result with resolution of the conflict. But the attitude of parties will be softer. Therefore, Russia wants Turkish-Armenian relations to be established. Russia does not need problems in South Caucasus. Because existing problems in South Caucasus is enough. Thus, Russia will be glad to see opening of the state border between two countries.
