Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave information about government’s ’democracy’ and ’Armenian’ openings in New York, U.S. where he went to attend General Assembly of United Nations. Erdogan said, “The democracy opening is not a package that is prepared as a solution only for Kurdish problem… At this point, this initiative is not towards only our Kurdish citizens there are more than 30 ethnicity in our country.” Stressing that the priority is struggle against terror, Erdogan said that the democracy initiative will apply to religious minorities and alawi citizens of Turkey. Erdogan said, “We are planning to enforce democratic opening process in short term, in medium term and in long term. I mean, it is not possible to apply it at once, we will hold it assimilatingly, we need to keep this process on.”

Erdogan also gave date for the protocols to be brought to the agenda of Turkish Grand National Assembly. “If this issue is not turned into a material of internal politics, protocols will be brough to the agenda of the parliament on October 10—11,” said he, pointing the protocols initialized by Turkey and Armenia towards establishment of diplomatic relations and developing bilateral ties.

Criticizing the attitude of Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan, Prime Minister said, “If you ask to me, Armenian President should not be showing attitudes like „i may come or not to Turkey to watch the soccer game“ while such steps are being made… I mean, making statements like „I would come only if…“ does not exist in international diplomacy any more.”
