
Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) condemned Armenian terrorist organization ASALA that tookhostage Turkey’s Consul to France and 56 people and murdered chief supervisor Cemal Ozen on September 24, 1981. The statement released by ATAA wrote, “4 Armed Armenian terrorist took Turkish consul and 56 people hostage for 16 hours. During the siege, Armenian terrorist Kevork Guzelian wounded Consul Kaya Inal and Chief Supervisor Cemal Ozen. ASALA threated that they will murder all the hostages if Turkey does not release Armenian prisoners or if France interferes the terroristic action. As French negotiators were approaching to the building, one of the terrorists throw grenade from the window. Turkish negotiators succeeded to lead Consul Inal and Ozen out but Ozen lost his life in the hospital. Turkish negotiators rejected demands of terrorists about release of Armenian prisoners. Terrorists requested for asylum to France in return of releasing the hostages. Later on terrorists turn theirselves in andconfessed that they are members of Armenian terrorist organization ASALA.
French authorities rejected asylum request of terrorists and sentenced them to imprisonment of 7 years. Following the terroristic action of Guzelian and his fellows ASALA terrorist organization targeted French agencies in several countries. ATAA condemns this terroristic action against innocent persons and commemorates this tragedy with a great sadness.“
