"TURKEY WILL NOT TAKE STEPS CONTRARY TO AZERBAIJAN'S INTERESTS"

The Azerbaijani people should be sure that Turkey will not take any steps offending Azerbaijan, the Head of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mehmet Ali Sahin, who arrived in Baku on an official visit, told reporters on Sept. 25.

Ali Sahin said that Turkey has always been close to Azerbaijan and that Turkey would not take steps contrary to the interests of Azerbaijan.

Regarding the negotiations between Armenia and Turkey to improve relations, Ali Sahin said that the Turkish Parliament has not acted this issue yet, but Turkey informs the Azerbaijani government on the negotiations with Armenia.

“Turkey is working to solve all the problems in the Caucasus and the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is one of them,” said Ali Sahin.

The purpose of his visit is to attend the first session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries. In addition, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament will hold a series of meetings within his visit to Baku.

The first session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries will take place in Baku on Sept. 28—29.

Mehmet Ali Sahin was elected the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament in August. Formerly he was Minister of Justice of Turkey.

Mehmet Sahin is one of the founders of the ruling Justice and Development Party. During the two governments of Erdogan, Mehmet Ali Sahin was Vice Prime and Minister of State.

VICTIMS PLAYED HUGE ROLE IN RECOGNITION OF AZERBAIJAN’S INDEPENDENCE

The victims of 20th January tragedy played a big role in recognition of Azerbaijan as an independent state, Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin told journalists in Baku on Sept. 26 after visiting the Martyrs Lane.

Ali Sahin appraised the Turkish troops’ contribution in Azerbaijan’s independence, who defended it from the Armenian Dashnaks in 1918.

Ali Sahin is on an official visit in Baku. Ali Shahin’s visit targets to participate in the first session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkish-speaking countries. In addition, during his visit to Baku, the Turkish Parliament Speaker will hold a series of meetings.

The first session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkish-speaking countries will be held in Baku on Sept. 28—29.

Turkish former Justice Minister Ali Sahin was elected Speaker of the Turkish parliament in August.

Ali Sahin is one of the founders of the ruling Justice and Development Party. Ali Sahin was Vice-Premier and State Minister in Erdogan’s two governments.
