In the process of normalizing relations with Armenia Turkey can not ignore the interests of Azerbaijan, said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a news conference in New York following his visit to the United States.

The prime minister said at his meetings with U. S. President Barack Obama and the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev he asked them to influence acceleration of the work of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“At a meeting with Barack Obama I said that on this issue Turkey can not ignore the interests of friendly Azerbaijan. The  U. S. president expressed great importance to this issue and promised to accelerate the work of the OSCE Minsk Group,” the prime minister said.

He said Turkey wants to have friendly relations with all neighboring countries, including Armenia, and it’s ready to take all necessary steps in this direction.

“But Armenia for its part should take some action,” Erdogan said.
