AFP: TURKEY, ARMENIA TO SIGN PROTOCOLS ON OCTOBER 10

It is reported that Turkey and Armenia will sign protocols towards establishment of diplomatic relations and developing bilateral ties on October 10.

According to the report of AFP, an official from Ankara said that Ankara and Yerevan plans to sign protocol agreement on October 10 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Foreign Ministries of Turkey and Armenia are expected to sign the protocols towards normalization of relations which is supported by European countries, Russia and United States.

The same official also stated that Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey who took active role as a mediator between Turkish and Armenian diplomats will be present as parties will sign the documents. On the other hand, one of the spokesmen to the Foreign Ministry of Switzerland stated that it is probable for the signing ceremony to be held in Switzerland.

On the other hand, spokesman to Foreign Ministry, Burak Ozuergin stated that the protocols will be signed following the process of internal consultations in Turkey and the place and date for signing protocols are still being considered on.
