“We believe in the promise given by Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Azerbaijani people.

We are sure that this promise will be kept,“chief of socio-political department of the President's Administration Ali Hasanov said. Hasanov underlined that it is not an ordinary statement, APA reported.

“So, we believe in it. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov also made a statement about it. The Minister said the reopening of Turkey-Armenia borders before the occupied Azerbaijani territories are released contradicts Azerbaijan-Turkey relations and the interests of the two countries,” he said.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated several times, including in Azerbaijani parliament in May that the borders with Armenia will not be reopened unless Nagorno Karabakh conflict is solved.

“TURKEY NOT TO TAKE STEPS THAT COULD HURT AZERBAIJAN”: HEAD OF DELEGATION TO PACE

Turkey will not take steps that could hurt Azerbaijan, Head of the Turkish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Movlud Chavushoglu said in an exclusive interview with Trend News, when commenting on the issue of ratification of the “Protocol on Establishing Diplomatic Relations” and “Protocol for Development of Bilateral Relations” by the Turkish and Armenian parliaments.

“The agreements between Turkey and Armenia can pass through the parliaments of both countries. Indeed, there could be very difficult and serious discussion at the parliament, but these agreements can pass them. However, serious issues and reactions arouse in Turkey and Armenia, as well as in Azerbaijan due to this issue. Azerbaijan is well aware of what the Turkish officials did and will do. The Turkish Prime Minister of said that they do not take steps that could hurt Azerbaijan. Regarding this protocol, he always said the steps taken by us will be beneficial mostly for Azerbaijan and Armenia. If Armenia is our friend, a friend of Azerbaijan, withdraws from the [occupied] lands and find a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, it will benefit from this. Naturally, Armenia’s withdrawal from the occupied lands, resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is profitable and useful for Azerbaijan. In doing so, we protect the interests of Azerbaijan and will continue to protect them in future,” said Chavushoglu.

He noted that these documents did not mention the inviolability of borders, in order not to complicate the internal situation in Armenia.

“If you carefully read the documents, you will sea all of them include Azerbaijan, its occupied land, and Nagorno-Karabakh. In these agreements, Azerbaijan does not remain on the sidelines. The official representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan know it. Here, we have a definite strategy with Azerbaijan. We will apply it. Naturally, we are also discussing this here. We want all parties to win in this matter. Our duty is to protect the rights of Azerbaijan,” he said.
