Armenian president's decision to visit Armenian communities was a little bit belated,” Editor-in-Chief of “Ararat” Lebanese-Armenian newspaper and member of Social-democratic Hnchakyan party Aharon Shkhrtmyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

He said Armenian president should have paid these visits last year.

Diaspora, he said, should be aware of all developments since it was formed as a result of the so-called “Armenian genocide.”

“One meeting with diaspora representatives will not be enough. That will not provide solution to Armenian issue,” Skhrtmyan said.

Director of Uruguay-based “Armenian Arax” radio station Diego Karamanukyan noted in turn that Armenia's policy was unclear to both Uruguay's government and people since the country's government had recognized the so-called “Armenian genocide” in 1965.

“By such step, Armenia calls into question ’genocide’ issue,” Karamanukyan said.

On October 1, Armenian President will start his first all-Armenian tour to biggest Armenian communities. Serzh Sargsyan will meet with Armenian community leaders in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Beirut and Rostov-on-Don.

Visit aims at revealing Armenian diaspora's views on Armenian-Turkish rapprochement.
