Baku does not believe signing of the Turkish-Armenian protocol on the resumption of diplomatic ties may lead to positive changes in Armenia’s position.

“Signing of the Turkish-Armenian protocol on the resumption of diplomatic ties, of course, will have impact on solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and development of the region. But I do not want to jump ahead. We have stated that we do not believe without achieving momentum in resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, any steps in this direction and signing of the protocols are possible ,” Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov told reporters on Oct.1.

Signing of the protocols may change Armenia’s position, but it is unlikely that these changes will be positive, Azimov said.

WE CANNOT ACCEPT UNILATERAL USE OF AZERBAIJAN’S LACHIN CORRIDOR BY ARMENIA

“Azerbaijan has no intention to donate its lands to anyone,” said Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov, APA reported.

The deputy minister said the Lachin corridor was an important factor in the negotiations from the view of opening the communications. “As one of the basic principles, the Lachin corridor is a point for the opening of communications in the conflict zone. Armenians called it a “corridor of hope” between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. It is very important for them. But we can not accept unilateral use of Azerbaijan's territory by Armenia. The Lachin corridor will remain as an Azerbaijani land if even it is given to the Armenia's use. You know about the Azerbaijan's proposal for bilateral use of the corridor. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also said that bilateral use of the corridor could play great role in the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey and establishing peace and cooperation in the region. But Armenian side doesn't reach this constructive level still or it doesn“t intend to reach that.”
