The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs hope that Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents will agree to meet in Chisinau on October 8.

The Russian co-chair Yuriy Merzlyakov told journalists at the occupied Azerbaijani region of Nagorno Karabakh that they will return to Armenia on October 3 and then to visit Azerbaijan on October 4. He said if there was an agreement, they would fly to Chisinau to prepare the meeting.

Merzlyakov said there would be a moment when Nagorno Karabakh would join the negotiation process. “I think it should be during the elaboration of agreement on the Madrid principles. It will be an agreement about the peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict and representatives of Nagorno Karabakh must join the negotiations over the status and population of the region.”

Merzlyakov didn“t say what points were agreed and added that the negotiations were not finalized yet. “It is early to talk about it before everything is coordinated. There are few issues to be coordinated.”
