TURKEY AND ARMENIA TO SIGN THE PROTOCOLS

Turkey and Armenia will sign two protocols toward establishment of diplomatic relations and developing bilateral ties on Saturday in Zurich, Switzerland.

Turkey is decisive for establishing a secure environment in the region that is not source of crisis anymore. Ankara showed its strong will about this foreign policy principle and made historic steps for a new period with Yerevan.

In this context, Turkish and Armenian Foreign Ministers will sign the protocols which Turkey and Armenia had agreement upon. Signed protocols will be brought to Turkish Grand National Assembly and the national will of Republic of Turkey will have the final word about process of normalization of relations.

Armenia opening started with the historic visit of President Abdullah Gul to Yerevan. The dialogue on Ankara-Yerevan axis is reflected to the process positively and current progress is reached.

Two protocols that aim to establish diplomatic relations and developing bilateral ties between two countries will be signed in Zurich by Turkish and Armenian Foreign Ministers.

But what do these two protocols bring which caused the reaction of the opposition partiesin Turkey?

WHAT DOES THE PROTOCOL BRING FOR TURKEY, ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN?

Here are the important points for Armenia;

— Borders will be opened

— Diplomatic relations will be established

— Connection will be established for transportation

— Turkey will remove all international blockade against Armenia and cooperation in energy issue will be started.

Here are the most important points for Turkey;

— Armenia will recognize Turkey’s territorial integrity that means Armenia willgiveupits claims on Turkish territory and willleave the rhetoric of “Great Armenia.”

— A sub-committee of historians will be established. Committee will be open for researchers from third countries.

— Armenia commits to leave making lobby about so called Armenian genocide in the international area.

— Armenia will open its archives.

And for Azerbaijan;

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu promised Baku administration that Turkey will not make any steps conflicting the interests of Azerbaijan. The issue will be carried to the agenda of Turkish Grand National Assembly following the signing ceremony.

Republican People’s Party and Nationalist Movement Party announced that they will not support the ’opening’.
