UNITED STATES Washington Post: Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Armenia agreed to sign the protocols following the last minute intervention of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

CNN: A dispute on the texts of the statements that will be made following the signing ceremony was about to cause cancellation of the ceremony. Establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries will reduce the tension in Caucasus and will contribute to the role of the region for being an energy corridor for the West.

New York Times: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had to struggle hard to ’save’ the signing ceremony when the situation became tense. Clinton tried to solve the dispute using two mobile phones at once.

Los Angeles Times: Clinton contributed resolution of the problem before parties agreed to sign the historical agreement between Turkey and Armenia.

Wall Street Journal: Turkey and Armenia signed the agreement for establishing diplomatic relations after a century of hostility. U. S. Secretary of State helped parties to come over the last minute dispute.

SPAIN

El Pais: Experts state that agreement is toward the interests of both sides. Turkey expects progress in EU membership negotiations while Armenia wants to get rid of the isolation. El Mundo: Turkey and Armenia signed a document that burries the historical hostility. An important step is made by two countries that will bring peace and stability in Caucasus.

ENGLAND BBC: Turkey and Armenia are normalizing their relations. Two countries signed protocols towards establishment of bilateral relations before the eyes of high level officials of super powers. Both countries have interest in the normalization of relations.

Times: Football diplomacy provided signing an agreement between Turkey and Armenia. The ceremony was like the World Cup Final of the football diplomacy.

FRANCE

Le Figaro: Turkey and Armenia signed a historical document to end the hostility of one hundred years. Following a disagreement on the texts of statements, Turkey and Armenia look forward to establish diplomatic relations and to open the state border.

Le Monde: Turkey and Armenia signeda historical agreement. Uncertainity about the agreement remained till the last minute. Signing ceremony was postponed for three hours because of a dispute on the text of statements that will be made following the signing ceremony.

ITALY

Corriere Della Sera: Two countries signed the protocols that will normalize the relations and remove the closed borders between two brother nations.

La Stampa: Armenia and Turkey finally signed the protocols. Protocols aim to establish diplomatic relations, open borders and establish a committee of historians to research the past.
