
Majority of Armenian diaspora is against the protocols that are signed by Turkish and Armenian Foreign Ministers towards establishment of diplomatic relations and development of bilateral ties in Zurich, Switzerland. On the other hand, Armenians of Syria supports Turkey-Armenia protocols.
Armenians of Syria, especially the citizens of Aleppo look forward for the time that they will be able to travel to Armenia through Turkey easily as Turkey and Syria agreed to remove visa necessity between two countries. Armenians of Aleppo state that they want fraternal relations between Turks and Armenians. Armenians of Syria state that good relations between Turkey and Syria should be exemplary for Turkey-Armenia relations.
Syrian-Armenian weight lifter Hachi Hojayan states that they cannot wait for the day that protocols will take effect and state borders between Turkey and Armenia will be opened. Hojayan said, “It is very nice that Turkey and Syria removed visa necessity and Turkey and Armenia signed protocols. Therefore, we will be able to travel to Turkey without visa. We can also travel to Armenia through Turkey.” Stating that they are traveling to Armenia over Georgia and it is taking much time, Hojayan said that they are looking forward for the day to come that they will travel to Armenia through Turkey.
“Turkey is the paradise on earth,” dentist Rafi Kasparyan while Hratch Kasparyan says that polarization of Turks and Armenians is not for the good of any party. Evaluating the rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia as a positive development, Kasparyan said, “Signing of protocols is an incredible development as a first step. It should have been made long ago. From now on, parties should reach agreements on sensitive issues. All can be solved by talks.”
