SWITZERLAND IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR COMMITTEE OF HISTORIANS

Parliamentarian from Republican People’s Party, Fevzi Topuz brought the issue of establishment of a committee of historians on the agenda of Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Topuz reminded that Turkey and Armenia agreed on establishment of a committee of historians that willmake researches on 1915 events in which historians from Turkey, Armenia and third countries such like Switzerland, will participate.

Topuz issued a parliamentary question and asked Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to explain the structure of the committee of historians that will be established within the frames of the protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed on October 10 in Switzerland.

Fevzi Topuz stated that experts that will participate to the committee of historians should be objective and they should approach to the issue scientifically.

Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy reminded that it is illegal to state “Turks did not commit genocide against Armenians” in Switzerland, and asked Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu why did Turkish government accept participation of Switzerland to the process of establishment of committee of historians. “How can Switzerland participate in the committee of historians whileSwitzerland isalready apartyto the discussions,” Topuz asked.

Topuz also wanted information about the structure and participant countries of the committee of historians.
