Sabir Rustemhanli reacted to Azerbaijani parliamentarians that strike an attitude against Turkey. Rustemhanli said, “Was that Turkey which gave Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenians?”
The relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan gets tensed as Turkey struggles to normalize its relations with Armenia. A group of Azerbaijani deputy reacted to the attitude of Azerbaijani administration against Turkey. Azerbaijani parliamentarians protested lowering Turkish flag in Baku. Chairman of United Azerbaijan Party Gudret Hesenguliyev and famous Azerbaijani poet Sabir Rustemhanli were among the deputies that protested attitude of Azerbaijani administration against Turkey.
Gudret Hesenguliyev entered to Azerbaijani Parliament with Turkish and Azerbaijani flags in his hands. Azerbaijani politician said that Turkish and Azerbaijani flags have always waved together in their hearts and they will stay in the hearts of Azerbaijanis forever.
“BAKU WAS LIBERATED BY THOSE FLAGS”
When deputy spokesman of Azerbaijani parliament Bahar Muradova stated that Azerbaijani administration will go on following the path that Azerbaijani law drives, and it will not change about the issue of flags too, Azerbaijani poet said,
“Those flags were the shrouds of Turkish soldiers that came from Anatolia to liberate our lands. Yes, i also condemn the insult against Azerbaijani flag in Bursa, but we should not forget that there were 30,000 Azerbaijani flags waving in the streets of Bursa. Turkish flag is our own flag, and we all should respect it.”
“HOW FAST YOU FORGOT WHAT RUSSIANS DID TO US?”
Rustemhanli said, “Today, Turkey intends to be a regional leader. And there is an opinion in Azerbaijan like it was Turkey who gave Karabakh to Armenians. How fast you forgot what Russians did to Azerbaijan. You may be against current Turkish government. But that should not turn into hostility against Turkey. Azerbaijan and Turkey are one heart and nobody can damage the relations between the people of Turkey and Azerbaijan.”
