The meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian parliamentarians in the Russian parliament ended.

Member of Azerbaijani delegation Sabir Hajiyev told that five members from Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian parliaments attended the meeting. He said Azerbaijani and Armenian ambassador to Russia and special representative of Russian President for international cultural co-operation Mikhail Shvydkoi also attended the meeting. Vice-speaker of Russian parliament chaired the meeting. Sabir Hajiyev said Nagorno Karabakh conflict was discussed at the meeting.

“No discussions were held directly on the settlement of the conflict. You know that the parliamentarians of both countries hold meetings within the framework of a number of international organizations, including the Council of Europe. It was one of these meetings. The main aim is to support the negotiations carried out on the level of presidents and foreign ministers. We underlined the necessity of establishing relations between the parliaments,” he said.

Hajiyev said they did not touch on the reopening of Turkey-Armenia border. It was decided to continue such meetings in the future. The parliamentarian said they will return to Azerbaijan tomorrow.
