Turkish and Armenian archaeologists will meet for restoration of Ani ruins in Van. On the other hand, preparations are being continued for a joint music event. Turkey had suggested Turkish and Armenian historians to study together to make researches on 1915 events. Meeting of Turkish and Armenian archaeologists will form a very first step for this initiative.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay said, “Studies are being continued for cooperating with Armenia in the field of culture. First step will be cooperation of Turkish and Armenian archaeologists for restoration of Ani ruins.” Minister expressed his content about Armenia’s decision to stop operation in the quarry near Turkish border which wasgivingdamage toAni ruins. He said that a group of archaeologists that includes both Turkish and Armenian scientists will meet in a project toward restoration of Ani ruins.
Gunay noted that there are also proposals for a joint music event. Hesaid, “There may be joint music events in Armenia or Europe that will include Turkish and Armenian artists. There are several Turkish-Armenian musicians in Turkey. Our Armenian citizens contribute our culture. They are very worthy for us. We cannot think our art and music without them. We created a great culture together but that war left pain in both sides. In my opinion, we should focus on our joint values instead of focusing on the pain.”
