Speaking to press following the EU-South Caucasus Cooperation Council meeting, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt called Turkish and Armenian Parliaments to immediately ratify the protocols which will start diplomatic relations between two countries.

Commenting on the negotiations that OSCE Minsk Group holds towards resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Swedish Foreign Minister stated that EU Term President Sweden is hopeful that efforts will be accelerated for solving the dispute between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Bildt also said that Sweden and Azerbaijan has a densed agenda including cooperation in energy.

Stating that Turkish and Armenian Parliaments should immediately ratify the protocols, Bildt said, “We call Turkish and Armenian parliaments to ratify the protocols immediately. This would be for the interests of every party.”

On the other hand, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Memmedyarov said that stability and peace in the region depends on withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from occupied lands of Azerbaijan.
