"ARMENIAN ISSUE IS OF SECONDARY IMPORTANCE"

Armenian Political Scientist Ruben Safrastyan stated that Armenian diaspora in United States against the protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed in the mediation of Switzerland.

Armenian scientist, said that the reason of the support of Turkish diaspora in United Statestowards Turkey-Armenia protocols is because of these diaspora organizations’ connection with Turkish state.

Safrastyan said, “It should be noted that most of the Turkish organizations in United States defend the interests of Turkey. They were established by Turkish state and they are being funded by Turkey.”

Commenting on the reactions of Armenian people on protocols, Safrastyan said that Armenian people did not show a strong reaction against protocols. “On the other hand, Turkish people do not attach importance to Turkey-Armenia process like they do about Kurdish issue.”

Commenting on reflections of Turkey-Armenia relations on the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan, Ruben Safrastyan said, “The general opinion in Turkey is that Turkey will not open borders with Armenia unless Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved. On the other hand, United States willpass Armenian resolution if Turkey does not open the border.”

Armenian political scientist commented on the situation that Turkey isandsaid, “Lately we witnessed that the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan is not only about brotherhood. The relations between two countries also have energy dimension.”
