Armenian diaspora in New York and Los Angeles announced that signing the protocols with Turkeyisbetraying the national interests of Armenia.Protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed to establish diplomatic relations and develop bilateral ties is against the Turkey policies of Armenian diaspora which bases on terror, recognition of so called Armenian genocide, land claims and compensation. Terror and recognition phases has ended. And U. S. banks rejected to pay compensation to the heirs of Ottoman Armenians.
There are 7 million Armenian in the World. Most of them live in United States and France. There are more than 100 Armenian organization in France. If Western World public opinion realize the truth and they see that allegations of Armenian genocide is nothing more than defamation, hatred against Turkey will decrease. Consequently, Armenian diaspora in the World would get assimilated and disappear in the countries they live in. Armenian diaspora could survive only with allegations of so called Armenian genocide and hostility against Turkey, as these form the national identity of diaspora Armenians.
Ottomans were calling Armenians as “loyal nation.” Foreign schools in Ottoman Empire made Bulgarians and Armenians hostile against Turkey. There were 1, 23 million Armenian in Ottoman Empire before the deportation. English and Russian archives also say the same. Today, there are 50 thousand Armenians in Turkey. And they were loyal to the Republic of Turkey.
Armenian capital Yerevan was homeland of Turks a century ago. Russia filled there with Armenians. Peace between Turkey and Armenia cannot be established in short time. But protocols will be towards the interests of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The biggest obstacles against the protocols are Armenian diaspora and Azerbaijan’s emotional reaction.
Resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has key importance in the normalization. Turkish Parliament will not ratify the protocols before resolution of the dispute. The occupation in theseven regions of Azerbaijan may end but dispute on Karabakh will not be easily solved. Turkey will not make any steps against the interests of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan should trust Turkey.
