Armenian diaspora in United States continues its campaign against the protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed towards establishment of diplomatic relations and development of bilateral ties.

As a result of the pressure that Armenian diaspora applies, U. S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid sent a letter U. S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and expressed the concerns related to the committee of historians that is planned to be established by Turkey and Armenia.

The letter is reflected to the press by Armenian lobbying organization Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). U. S. Senate Majority Leader wrote in letter that Turkey-Armenia protocols creates concern among the Armenian citizens of U.S. and that he received several letters from people who are against establishment of a committee of historians and who considers that protocols are unfair.

Reid wrote, “I thought that it is important to reflect the concerns of people to you. The issue of committee of historians is especially sensitive for American-Armenians because Turkey has never recognized ’Armenian genocide’.”

On the other hand, PanArmenian news portal wrote that Obama administration never met with an Armenian leader in United States although Turkey-Armenia relations is one of the most important clauses on the foreign policy agenda of United States.
